New product gallery for bicycle rims
length: 3 week
Problem
The goal of this project is to create an engaging experience for DIY bike lover to choose rims for their bikes. Everyday consumers can find reading technical specification difficult.
Design
The design is a virtual museum park with the bicycle rims products shown in 3D. The rims’ shapes, smoothness, and thickness are important to the customers. With the design, customers are able to see the products in 3D from any angle that they like in a game-like, exploration experience. This 3D environment is not meant to replace the traditional technical catalog but to serve as a bridge for novice customers start learning about the difference between the different models.
The round sculpture in
the middle of the museum park, shown in the picture above, allows users to learn what types of rims
are suited for their bikes. For example, they could choose mountain bike to see all the rims fitted for
mountain bike reflected in the sculpture. The product boards in the virtual environment, shown in the picture below, were perfectly fitted at a height where
users could most clearly see the details.

The engaging experience invites customers to reflect about
the objects that they see in the environment.
More reflections = deeper memory, experience, and “ensoulment”
